Aquabiking: good reasons to get started!
The range of sports activities on offer is becoming increasingly diverse. In recent years, there has been a trend towards combining different sports to create a new one.
Aquabike is proof of this since it is a combination between the water sports and the stationary bike.
Cycling submerged in water
Also known as aquabiking, aquacycling or aquaspinning, aquabiking is enjoying increasing popularity. The principle is simple: a stationary bike, designed for this type of activity, is placed in the shallow part of a swimming pool. The person, once seated, finds himself submerged up to chest height. The sessions usually take place in a group led by a qualified trainer. The trainer guides the participants and, like a spinning class, varies the level of intensity.

Many therapies have been designed with the benefits of water in mind, whether it is balneotherapy, hydrotherapy or thalassotherapy. In terms of physical activity, water has two advantages:
- the resistance it creates
- the capacity for weightlessness
Hydrostatic pressure and buoyancy facilitate blood circulation, which is ideal in case of venous insufficiency problems. For the same degree of effort, the heart will produce 10 fewer beats per minute than during an activity practiced on the ground such as cycling.
