Practicing a sporting activity during pregnancy: the benefits

During pregnancy, it is advisable to continue practicing gentle sporting activity. Water sports, for example, can be a source of well-being for any pregnant woman. However, there is no question of engaging in any activity during pregnancy.

 

Before you start, it is important to talk about it with the health professionals around you and to listen to your body. Because each pregnancy is unique!

Practicing a sporting activity while pregnant allows you to stay in shape and reduce pregnancy-related ailments, such as nausea, back pain or heavy legs.

 

A sport suitable for pregnant women is ideal for activating blood circulation and providing oxygen. It is also a good way to prepare for childbirth and to deal with it more calmly.

 

Gentle sports recommended during pregnancy

As you can imagine, violent sports that could lead to falls or blows should be avoided when you are pregnant. During your pregnancy, choose gentle sporting activities, such as walking, yoga or water sports.

 

Walking

Walking is an excellent sport for strengthening your glutes and thighs. It is a risk-free activity for pregnant women and ideal for keeping in shape. To be practiced without moderation (or almost)!

 

Yoga

Did you use to practice yoga and are now pregnant? Good news, without contraindication from your doctor, you can continue this activity during your pregnancy. Yoga allows you to learn to breathe better and strengthen the perineum.

 

Water sports

THE water sports such as swimming, aquagym or aquabike are very often recommended during pregnancy. In fact, the body only represents a third of its weight when immersed in water. What pregnant woman doesn't dream of feeling light and free to move, even for just an hour?

 

These are ​very complete prenatal sports activities​ that allow you to work the entire body gently, and which ​promote relaxation​. They are as beneficial for your heart and that of the baby, as for your legs and your back.

 

Aquabiking: an ideal sport during pregnancy

The practice ofprenatal aquabiking has many benefits for pregnant women: maintain abdominal muscles, improve venous return, increase endurance, combat heavy legs, back pain and orange peel skin, while paying attention to baby.

 

However, it is necessary to be careful and slow down! It is therefore a question of favoring gentler aquabiking exercises, using relaxation and breathing.

 

At Aqua by, we offer small group classes specially designed and adapted for pregnant women who want to practice a prenatal aquatic activity.​

 

Our coaches, trained for this activity, listen to each person and take the time to develop less intensive and safe exercises.

 

​All our aquabiking sessions are open to pregnant women, so don't hesitate to visit us in our studios in Paris (Bastille, Charonne or Réaumur)! We welcome you all week from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
