People suffering from back pain often do not practice any sporting activity for fear of having even more pain. However, there is nothing worse for the back than inactivity, because it is extremely important to strengthen your back muscles for a healthy body! But then what sport should we practice when we have back pain?
AQUATIC ACTIVITIES
Swimming, aquagym, aquabike are gentle sports, since carried by the water, our joints and muscles do not suffer any shock. So we can strengthen our back in complete safety. However, it is advisable to favor crawl and backstroke and to avoid breaststroke.
THE WALK
Fast or moderate, it’s up to you! The only thing to avoid is increasing the length of your stride in order to limit spinal twisting!
THE BIKE
Also recommended for back pain, it is however recommended to avoid descents or stony paths. The best way to avoid this is to have an exercise bike, and why not an elliptical bike which combines the benefits of cycling and running, without any shock!
YOGA/STRETCHING
Yoga, where posture work is essential, promotes gentle strengthening and flexibility of the body which can only do us good!
A good practice of these sports will relieve you of your back pain, and even prevent it!
