Summary

Since ancient times, immersion in water has been seen as a source of benefits for the body. Since the 1970s, different disciplines ofaerobics in the pool were born and their success cannot be denied.

Amidst all these disciplines on offer, you may sometimes have to wonder what the advantages of one or the other are. We help you take stock of the differences between aquabike and aquagym.

Aquabike or aquagym: different aquatic activities.

Aquabike or aquagym are both practiced in a swimming pool, are open to everyone even if you don't know how to swim, but have some differences.

As its name suggests, aquabike is practiced on an exercise bike immersed in water. The different positions that you can have on the bike obviously allow you to work your legs, but also your arms, abs, etc.

L'water aerobics is a fitness class that takes place in the water. The movements follow one another, working the different parts of the body, with or without accessories.

Aquagym classes are always group classes, with a coach who shows the series of exercises to be performed: squats, bends, jumps, etc. These sessions generally last between 45 and 60 minutes.

Aquabike classes are available in several options. You can find individual cabins to do it alone, for the duration of your choice. Or you can choose the group class formula, with a coach and music, to benefit from the friendly and lively effect of the group.

Aquabike or aquagym: the different benefits for your body.

Exercising in water has many benefits. The body being carried by the water, you make movements without creating tension on your joints, and without generating aches.

Aquagym: to tone your body.

Aquagym is intended for people who want to relax, get back in shape and gently tone their body. The resistance of the water forces the muscles to work harder for each movement, while erasing the impression of effort.

Aquabike: ideal for weight loss.

Aquabiking, which particularly uses the legs, provides rapid slimming effects on the legs, hips and stomach. The activity – more intense than aquagym, is also an effective way to erase cellulite thanks to the draining effect of water. A 55-minute aquabike session can lose up to 600 calories!

What matters most is to practice these sports with pleasure and regularly to benefit from all their benefits in the long term.

So, aquabike or aquagym? Our advice is to make a test session of each, and thus find the one that suits you best!
